You wake up anchored somewhere beautiful, what are you doing first?
- AGetting straight into the water.
- BWondering where we’re going next.
- CFinding coffee and asking what’s for breakfast.
- DClaiming the best spot on deck.
Spend a few days on vacation with a group of friends or family, and certain personalities start to reveal themselves pretty quickly. There’s always someone who is ready to get in the water before everyone else has finished breakfast. Someone else wants to see what is around the next corner. One person is already thinking about lunch, while another has found the perfect spot on deck and has no intention of moving anytime soon.
Everyone may arrive on the same yacht, but everyone has their own idea of what a perfect vacation looks like.
Keep track of which letter you choose most often!
Mostly A’s, B’s, C’s or D’s? Here’s what your vacation personality says about you. And if your answers are split? You may just be more than one!

A
For you, being somewhere beautiful is not enough. You need to be in it. The moment the yacht drops anchor, you’re already thinking about snorkeling, paddleboards, floats or whatever else is onboard.
Sounds like you if: you pack more swimsuits than actual clothes.

B
You love waking up somewhere new and knowing there is another island, cove or swimming spot still ahead. On a yacht, the view can change without your room, crew or favorite place on deck going anywhere.
Sounds like you if: you’re always asking whether there’s time for one more stop.

C
For you, food is not something that happens between activities. It is part of the vacation. On a crewed yacht, your chef gets to know what your group enjoys and builds meals around those preferences throughout the week.
Sounds like you if: you have discussed dinner while finishing breakfast.

D
You did not travel all the way to the Caribbean to fill every hour of the day. Give you a comfortable spot, something cold to drink and a beautiful view, and you’re perfectly content.
Sounds like you if: your favorite vacation memory involves a chair, a drink and several uninterrupted hours.
That is one of the reasons a private yacht works so well for groups. Everyone gets to share the same trip without having to spend every moment doing the same thing. One person can be swimming while someone else is stretched out on deck. Another may be thinking about lunch while the rest of the group is already wondering where the yacht is heading next. You don’t all have to vacation the same way to vacation together.

Group trips have a funny way of sounding effortless in the beginning. Someone throws out a destination, a few people say yes, and suddenly the idea has momentum. Then the planning begins. Flights have to line up. Rooms have to make sense. Activities have to be chosen. Before long, a vacation that was supposed to feel spontaneous starts to look suspiciously like project management.
That is part of what makes a crewed yacht such a different way to travel with a group. Instead of assembling the trip piece by piece, much of the experience is already built around one moving home base, one crew and one itinerary that can flex around the people onboard.

Staying together onboard one yacht removes a lot of the friction that tends to creep into group travel. You are not dividing everyone between hotel rooms, figuring out where to meet each morning or arranging transportation every time the group wants to go somewhere new. Everyone wakes up in the same place, even when that place changes from one island to the next.
Food is usually one of the best parts of traveling, but with a group, it can also become one of the most complicated. Different tastes, dietary preferences, reservation times and the simple challenge of getting everyone ready at once can turn dinner into another decision that has to be managed. On a crewed yacht, your chef gets to know your group’s preferences before the trip begins and plans meals around them.
A great group trip still benefits from structure. The difference is that you do not have to spend the week managing it. Before your charter, the Charter Smarter team gets to know what your group wants from the experience. Your captain can then use those preferences, along with local knowledge and the conditions during your trip, to help shape the itinerary.
This may be one of the most underrated parts of the experience. The person who usually handles the schedules and coordination finally gets to enjoy the trip in the same way everyone else does.
We had a little fun with this exact scenario on our socials recently, because if you’ve ever planned a group trip, you know how quickly “let’s go somewhere” can turn into a full-time logistics job. Follow us for Caribbean inspiration, yacht tours and ideas for making group travel feel a lot easier.

We did a 6 night BVI on Evenstar boat with 2 adults and 3 kids. It was the best vacation! Captain Tim and Zara were amazing. They were totally flexible regarding itinerary and menu and took us to some of the most beautiful coves and beaches. The water toys were also super fun. I would highly recommend this boat and crew for any charter vacation.
Give one person photo duty for 10 minutes a day. Get the group shots, the sunset pic and the “yes, we were actually here” proof, then let everyone go back to being on vacation.
